I have had similar problems, as the documentation is not always clear or relevant. I suggest you sign up for free account with https://www.component-creator.com and use the free option to have it build three front-end views for you (planet, planets and planetform). then you can either:
- use the generated code as-is
- tweak it
- use it as guidance, possible copy-and-paste chunks of the generated code to your own component
